Jamil Anderlini is Editor-in-Chief of POLITICO Europe, a role he took up in October, 2021. Since joining POLITICO, Jamil has overseen the launch of numerous new products and rapid expansion into new geographies and product lines.

Under his leadership, web traffic to POLITICO.eu has doubled, as have revenues to the European part of POLITICO’s business.

Jamil joined POLITICO from the Financial Times, where he was chief editor for Asia starting in January, 2016.

Jamil is an award-winning journalist.

He is fluent in spoken and written Mandarin Chinese. Over two decades working as an editor and journalist in China and Asia, he cultivated a deep knowledge of the political and economic situation in the region.   

Jamil joined the FT in 2007 and worked as Beijing Correspondent and Deputy Beijing Bureau Chief before he was named Beijing Bureau Chief in 2011, with overall responsibility for China coverage at the FT.
