Early Life and Education
Tech Hooi Hong was born in Singapore on March 14, 1930.
He attended the Anglo-Chinese School in Singapore and later earned three degrees: a Bachelor of Science from Pacific Western University, a Master of Business Administration from Clayton University, and a Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Malaya.
Career at Overseas-Chinese Banking Corporation Ltd.
and Malayan Banking Berhad
Tech Hong's career in banking began in 1950 when he joined Overseas-Chinese Banking Corporation Ltd. as a clerk. Within five years, he rose to the position of inspector. In 1960, he joined Malayan Banking Berhad as a manager.
At the age of 34, he was appointed Managing Director of the bank, a position he held until 1966.
